Kelly Knight, MA, LPC, EMDR Trained
I am Kelly Knight, a therapist with Meltzer Counseling, a group therapy practice serving clients in Richardson and throughout Texas. I provide secure virtual therapy to adults who are navigating challenges such as chronic pain and illness, PTSD, history of trauma, ADHD, family and relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and grief. I accept United Health Care, Aetna, Cigna, Baylor Scott & White, and Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO type health plans as well as self-pay and out of network.
I am real, open, non-judgmental, and strive to help clients learn to calm the mind and body, redefine realities, build effective skills that can improve quality of life, and create a plan to feel better utilizing evidence-based therapies such as:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for increasing acceptance of difficult thoughts, emotions, and physiological sensations while developing and moving toward goals that provide meaning and purpose.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) for helping to treat and reduce disturbance from traumatic memories, PTSD, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, phobias, grief, and nightmares.
- Mindfulness practices such as somatic, breathing, grounding, and guided imagery exercises that have been shown to improve the way we manage stress, pain, and illness.
In addition to holding a BFA in Photography and an MA in Counseling, my professional experience has ventured from corporate marketing to creative self-employment as a photographer to a meaningful career in counseling. I also live with complex chronic pain and illness and can relate to the challenges of treatment. My secrets to managing my own personal stressors are self-awareness, embracing change, self-compassion, mindfulness, and achieving purpose and goals in life.
