“One day, in retrospect, the years of struggle will strike you as the most beautiful.” – Sigmund Freud

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor in the state of Texas. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas Tech University and Master of Science in Counseling from Southern Methodist University. During my undergraduate and graduate career, I participated in research pertaining to social psychology, child development, and improvement of quality of life of youth diagnosed with chronic health conditions such as cancer, blood disorders, and chronic pain. I gained my clinical experience at the SMU Center for Family Counseling, the Student Opportunity Center for Family Counseling FISD, and SMU Resource Center for Family Counseling. My education and clinical training has equipped me to work with children, adolescents, couples, adults, groups, and the LGBTQ+ community. I specialize in working with individuals struggling with mood disorders, relationship issues, anxiety, ADHD, anger management, life transitions, addiction, and trauma. My theoretical orientation is Adlerian and my therapeutic approach is tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual client. Therapeutic techniques may derive from Adlerian Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, Expressive Arts, and Gestalt Therapy. I also provide Play Therapy for children and Activity Therapy for adolescents.

“We are not determined by our experiences, but are self-determined by the meaning we give to them.” – Alfred Adler.

Within our intimate and social networks, we all perceive our experiences and life circumstances differently as well as attach meaning and importance to those experiences. Gaining insight and self-understanding in how we view and respond to what we experience is an important stepping-stone in the process of change. It is my belief that people are purposeful, creative, and goal-oriented. Therefore, each individual possesses the strength, courage, and motivation within themselves to strive for better.

As your counselor, I aim to gain a holistic and phenomenological understanding of who you are and what drives you as well as encourage your own self-understanding and motivation for change. Together, we will build a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship, explore your personal story, interpret important dynamics, gain insight and understanding, and collaboratively work as a team to modify any specific issues you bring to counseling. My goal as your counselor is to provide a safe and supportive environment that fosters change as well as encourage insight and motivation to continue to strive toward achieving your goals to become the best you can be.
