Abby Bedford Masters Level Marriage and Family Therapist Intern supervised by Jane Kong LPC-S

Abby holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of North Texas, and is currently a graduate student at Lamar University, working toward her Master of Education in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling.
After teaching middle school English for five years in Oak Cliff, and for three years in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Abby was able to begin to pursue another passion of hers: helping others to work through the emotional difficulties in their lives. Abby was lucky enough to have had incredible experiences with counselors when dealing with her own personal issues, and she looks forward to continuing that tradition.
Abby is focused on helping people develop the skills needed to live their healthiest and most fulfilling lives. She enjoys working with adolescents, as is evident from her years in education, couples and working with the entire family to help improve communication and connection. She is highly interested in family systems, as well as working with clients and their families from varied cultural backgrounds. She is an LGBTQIA+ ally and advocate.
Abby employs a solution-focused approach when working with clients and uses techniques such as CBT and DBT. She believes in leading from behind, asking questions that lead her clients to their own discoveries and understandings. Abby looks forward to helping clients through difficult times by empowering them to express themselves in a safe and supportive environment, as well as equipping them with the skills needed to move forward in a positive way.
Abby can offer a reduced fee and is currently available Tuesdays and Wednesdays (day and evening), as well as weekends, in-person and via telehealth.
